Flurries of a Spring Snow

The snow which gathers outside this morn

Is scurrying along on breezes which borne
Huge, soft flakes to the ground in pools
Which then disintegrate upon hitting all

The pavement, grass, leaves and twigs
And we realize there will not be scads
Of build-up - for it is, after all, spring
And we have left behind the dearth within

A season which brought us very little in
The way of winters past which we've seen
Which caused us so much bother and chagrin
Some of us moved to much warmer spots to win

Tropical sunshine throughout day and night
Although this provides much in good light
There are other things against this sight
Things which provide fullness and might

And keep us stranded in weather so foul
For much of our stance is provided now
By foundations - which serve us too well
And keep us teetering on the edge of hell

For a winter which comes at the right time
And then leaves at the point we start to climb
Out of burrowed lairs within which we sleep
As we toss and turn so much - we do creep

Along wintry paths which isolate us so
We wonder how can it be we delight in snow
Which falls in blankets so fuzzy and wet
We know the problems - so to solve them yet

Is simplified by experience of the past
For we have been through it all and last
Because each new scenario becomes old fast
And this creates security - and so we must

Stay within the boundaries we've established
And so we do, for no matter what comes next
Our experience of ages gone is not forgot
As we relax in the place where WE ARE hot.
