Bridges and Cables Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s33.erols.com Fri, April 18, 1997 at 3:0AM |
We bridge time
And lose time
And gain time
But we can never get back time
We do all kinds of things with cable
Sometimes - in our minds - we're able
To support magnificently large bridges
With cable strung along without hedges
And we marvel at the kinds of support
Cables provide, and so they ought
For they've been strung carefully over time
During which many have persevered with prime
Thought given to the very ultimate task
Of seeing the work produce strength at last
And we wonder how it is at all possible
That we have not wound up in hospitals
Dizzy with the spinning we've suffered
As cabled bridges have been buffered
With lines which have been strung between
Two parties who've not taken time to've seen
Each other's ojectives which've only been
In imaginations, hearts, souls and dreams ...
