We who are single are all alone

And wait in quiet for the phone
To ring, and a pleasant voice to say
"You know I care, tell me about today"

But it only happens on spurs of moments
And you wish there'd be plans, hoping
Some wonderful person will be steady
And always for you and at the ready

But everybody lives on their own agenda
For they have priorities, and amend 'em
As they move around in their own circles
And don't always see you as they perk all

Not to worry, for there really is someone
For whom life exists not, unless you're some
Part of their constant and daily routine
For they cannot go on, unless you're seen

If not in reality, then in their mind's eye
For you have come to be so much of their pie
And sooner or later, they will come and find
The beauty and wonder you are, and be kind ...
