Doors swing open, doors swing closed

And as we think back to so long ago
We become enmeshed in feelings of fear
About times which seemed so devoid of cheer

And we now look ahead to make plans again
As we scurry along on this rushing train
And visit in this compartment, then in that
As we test the waters, and then collapse

For good things which happen beyond one door
Then ... turn into mush of yet another sort
And we look for new doors with portals over
So we can settle in with warmth in a pullover

And cosy up to one really comfortable lady
Who sees the beauty within as we do too maybe
And then we two sit down and chat for awhile
As we share visions, and trade quips in piles

And then when we have learnt all we can today
We then make plans to do it yet again in a way
By trading real names, numbers, addresses, e-mail
And perhaps by even making plans for a new trail

We shall travel together along hand-in-hand
And then perhaps become as one as we stand
Up ... and throw our arms around each other
As little animals scurry and do run for cover

And we reach down and pick up the picnic basket
Then tug each other along as we both grasp it
And we sing merrily as we skip along the path
For two hearts beating as one are the best laugh.
