The Souls We Bare

Opening up our souls is a treat indeed

For when we bare them, we let it bleed
And others then do reach out to grasp
The pain felt in an empty heart's clasp
And then may pummel it - to the ground
Or may listen carefully to the sound
Of lonely gears as they do then turn
Trying to mesh with cogs which churn
Dry from long spells of lack of use
When times were better they did choose
To mesh with each other in fluid motion
Said feeling now comes only in a potion
Swallowed down all at once untasting
Never, ever, even one little drop wasting
And so fortified ... we then pursue
Other poor souls we can cotton to
Who may welcome our baring from our chest
And who may then pull us down, blessed
By sources who've watched over us
As we've been pulled through the mush
By unnamed creatures who've taunted
Hateful things which they've flaunted
Leaving others standing in wings as we lose
The clear directives which winners choose
