A World Apart Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s56.erols.com Mon, June 30, 1997 at 12:30PM |
My love shines incandescent from far apart
Words we have exchanged have made a start
At breaking down the barrier which divides
So we scale up a ladder together at sides
Of walls which were previously erected
And as I reach out my fingers electric
Sparks come across that very high fence
As the vibes you keep sending me amends
A soul which has been tugged so very hard
It struggles within to go forth, outward
And deal directly with goodness abounding
Which is commonplace, I know, surrounding
My steady connections, which I do have
Yet, it is YOUR love which makes me glad
Even though there is little which can be done
For you are there and I am here - quite some
Miles apart from the touch of each other
And yet, you DO touch and make shudder
The combined arteries, veins and nerves
Which breathe you in, and make heard
The cries I do utter as you hold out
Your arms to grasp me tightly about
My chest, so you can feel the pump
Which surges blood thru US at once
And my sobs do wrack my body now
As I feel your pull - and know how
Difficult it is to consummate our love
For even though it's there, you're above
And ahead of me in time and even day
Making so tricky our fully shared say
For when it's your night - you're tired
And it's my day and so I'm all fired
Then when you are raring to go
It has become my night - so
You're full of such abundant energy
And 'tis I who has sunk into lethargy
And my heart cries quietly inside
For we are on such different sides
Of a globe which is so large & vast
For we are together in a world apart
