On Caring About One More Than Yourself Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s49.erols.com Tues, June 24, 1997 at 1:0PM |
We all walk a thin line when we address the issue
Of caring so much for another - they immerse you
Within four walls - filled with obsessive desire
As the frustration builds up till you're in a mire
And no matter what you say, do, think, or write
The feelings within undermine and you lose sight
Of clear rational understanding of why you do feel
You will lose it all if you don't slice and peel
According to their wants, needs, desires and bent
For they have stated clearly you must give vent
To their way of putting all those things in order
Upon which rein your grasp is slipping as you ponder
And tally up all that multitude of pros and cons
As you weigh off the balance with rights and wrongs
Then you deal with the truth of caring for another
Which is not always possible when together for you
are smothered ...
