The Shoes of the Father Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s38.erols.com Tues, June 24, 1997 at 9:20AM |
As I was growing up through the years
I admired my father even tho I feared
His anger - which many times caused
A breaking of those unwritten laws
The ones which state we shall not hit
Others - whenever we get into a fit
And quite often he did just that
Then he was gone and it's old hat
And now I find I must pay homage
In some respect today to my sage
For everything he was and had
Is now apparently up for grabs
And I must appear and represent
My old man - who's now been sent
Into the heavens above for eternity
As the family fights for identity
But the most important thing here
Is what very few know until this spear
And that is to do with his boots -
Which I now wear on each foot!
