The Demands Which Command Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s12.erols.com Mon, June 23, 1997 at 12:20PM |
We go along through life finding, then losing
Things and people - the latter by so choosing
For when connections we've made start unravelling
It is by choice, for we then elect to go travelling
In search of others to become our life companions
Someone who won't demand - or make any coercion
To attempt to get us to severely change our ways
Which will only cause US to get lost in the daze
We each need someone in our lives to accept
Us - just as we are, and so will not neglect
The heart which makes us so very passionate
About all we do and are and so - the aggregate
Shall not get lost if they accept our stance
And then the wonder they saw when the lance
Was thrust so pointedly in their direction
Turned to butter amidst so much affection
So to those I say turn back that very clock
And remind yourself of the magical stops
We pulled out together as we did evolve
And won each other before this resolve
Set in and hardened into solid cement
So now this mind of yours will not relent
And the demands you have made create doors
Behind which you've created your own laws
And as you lock yourself forever in behind
This barrier which is only a state of mind
Remind yourself you are missing the wonder
We did share - before you dragged me under ...
