Opening a Door in the Mind

We harbor many chips, grievances and bitterness

And some of us dwell on them - and so do miss
Opportunities which go beyond the usual fare
When bells are clearly rung - pealing in air

Calling us to re-assess the situation displayed
And quizzing us to balance things as now made
With admonitions to open up those trap doors
And let slide those feelings we have stored

Well ... let me state this - the heart is willing
But the spirit which guides is not full to spilling
And even though it is possible to drop open the door
The latch which keeps it shut, is rusted - evermore ...
