The Mind is a Steel Trap

You tend to rememember the moments which stand out

Some are like yesterday, they're so vivid and stout
Those moments which you want to do over, so clearing
Out the remnants of visions which sent you steering

Onto other directions, as your mind was open to -
Being served up other platters, some with stew
A mix of good & bad, soft & hard, pain & pleasure
Most of which came at moments of great leisure

And then the balance are the other side of the coin
Some sinister, some sad, some which made you enjoin
Others, and that sharing has created some good will
Which you will revisit all your life, for they still

Will sit squarely on top of your shoulders in head
Some with outcomes which have sapped and even bled
Others which nagged at you then and so do still
Things which should not have been, and thus a pill

And you consider whether you really want a return
To things which so pained, and made you infirm
Remembering all there were, and the hurt caused
Which took you from loving to being - so sore ...
