Superstitions of the Soul Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s14.erols.com Sat, June 14, 1997 at 2:50PM |
When we avoid doing the things which we need to do
We are accomplishing nothing other than becoming blue
For we are frustrating ourselves to the utmost limit
By not doing - and putting ourselves very much in it
... A situation which immerses us in an endless loop
Because we have not the courage to dig out, or scoop
Up the solution - which is handed so readily to us
For we are looking over the top to another "must"
And so we spend so long ... looking, beyond the line
Which we have drawn in front of us - which is fine
Except now we have dug in, and made a trench for us
And then ... those we love, cannot - defend us, plus
Any move they make towards us, must be across this moat
And then, we sit back all huddled up (we think) & gloat
For we have protected ourselves from this frontal assault
And thus we are separated from any resolution to a fault
Does this complication come about from prior broken trust
Or are we really basically superstitious, and so we just
Put up these obstacles in front of us as far as we can see
Just because we are inflexible, so cannot see you and me?
