As I rounded the corner at the very top of the hill

There they were - all standing in a line quite still
An array of large black birds - a simple flock of crows
Where they had come from, I'm sure nobody really knows

Or the reason they had all settled down upon the drive
I'm sure it had nothing whatsoever to do with you or I
But there they were - all standing perched at attention
Looking like a line of tellers at a bank I'll not mention

And then one by one, they made themselves quite busy
Watching their bodies spin made me feel a bit dizzy
For all at once, in unison they now leapt up high
Ready to jet out from their branches - to the sky ....
