The Third Time's a Charm Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s27.erols.com Wed, June 11, 1997 at 10:0PM |
Everything comes in threes, some say
Morning, noon and night are the day
And there are three meals which power
Us, as we go about those days & flower
... Blooming as we produce our wares
Showing by the love of it - we care
Because of this, we get three weeks
We've earned by our dedication at peak
And then also we might have three cars
One for each, and a backup in the yard
Plus perhaps even three television sets
One each in living room, bedroom, & bet
There's one in the family room for kids
So they can go down there and lift lids
On their favorite snack or soda drinks
Whilst they watch their shows and sink
Into oblivion, munching on them quite some
Especially when the folks are not at home
Even the kids exist probably in threesome
All neat and clean and really wholesome
Threes exist in all of the endeavours
Which we do partake of as we labour
Coffee-break, lunch, and tea-break
Even three ways of taxing our take
State, Federal and the Union stuff
When will they all ever have enough?
Even when the work is behind us ...
There's also three ways they must
Get their hooks into what we have left
Interest, paybacks and other chaffers
So when we finally do meet our maker
There won't be anything left to anchor
