From Winter's Losses comes Spring's Gains

As hibernating animals start to feel the pain
Of muscles now active, which had been lame
And bones which creaked with cold now claim
New aggravations of blisters, cuts and same
As fresh tasks are taken on in pursuit of fame

Perhaps to be the one with the cleanest yard
Or to be known as the one who most works hard
To be seen as the neighbor who shines the best
At those chores of drudgery which some do less
For some things at which we care the very most
Are not prettying in quite the same way of boast

Tasks undertaken by ones who prioritize pleasure
Must be seen by others so by another good measure
We all have little things we value above all else
To some it's beauty without, for they can sell
A package from head to toes which they do own
But others who are not so well blessed moan
In delights of another beauty which is shown
In words of grace and passion imparted alone

From a little soapbox upon which they do perch
As they give their oratory in floods as they search
For wonderful loving warm caring passionate minds
Who can respond with like feelings they can find
From deep within, as they go about their lives
And yet not be swayed by others who thrive

On churning the waters in which they thrash
As they seek desperately to avenge and lash
Out - with words of spite and slander vile
As they miss the boat by more than a mile
For they see only their direct intent
And miss the overall picture Heaven sent
