When faced with innumerable odds

Does one retire and hide under logs
Or is it better to open door and face
The pain and sorrow which has no grace?

If you are faced with such a scenario
Then carefully weigh the balance in rows
And be prepared to surrender if you do go
On with the fight which has no real blows

But is saturated with wrongs and rights
Which color you in some way without light
For the picture painted is one without
As it is streaked with extreme amounts

Of hues which border on all the primaries
And as you advance, you're covered with lies
Those who do so 'cause they're waiting in vain
For you to emerge so they can start up again

Sometimes, perhaps it is better to give up
And prevent those who'd keep you from sup
And from toying with your oh, so fragile mind
Which has now gotten itself into quite a bind!
