A Flight Away from Love Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s61.erols.com Mon, June 2, 1997 at 9:20PM |
When we discover something fits like a glove
Why is it we tend to run away from it to be above
The hubbub which has come to light as we've grown
More accustomed to the bits and pieces we're shown
And as we fit each piece of the puzzle together
Instead of becoming surer, we become UNtethered
And protest, speaking of principles we've adopted
Forgetting completely, we also have not stopped the
Addictions we thought all along we could do without
When truly we were kidding ourselves both in & about
For we who speak so highly of principles are floundering
And there is nothing we can do to keep it from boundering
Upon just as many borderline edges of flagrant hyperbole
When one has the audacity to point out with much effrontery
Our state of perfection, which exists only in a mental state
For the things we pretend we are is all on one side of a gate ...
