As we go along through life rushing

There comes a time when we're pushing
Things we envision and use to find
Lovely words which we see in rhymes

And so we prepare to put away our pen
So we can work on prose and so then
We will leave behind verses which still
Come at us with the slight turn of a quill

And work at other things which cry out
For their turn at our blessings and doubt
Comes to us ... for we've said so much
We wonder whether there's more to touch

Upon in words of strength and some not
For many of these rhymes are not so hot
And yet - some do cry out their message
With a purity which needs no dressage

And yet - we must take time to review
Those verses which do not quite stew
And so the time has come to move along
And play this verse - a short swan song.
