This morning I saw quite a sight

Which really gave me quite a fright
Two little birds zoomed all around
In tight circles as though bound

Together by a thread and connected
In a wondrous pairing which bisected
My advance along the dusty pathway
And I did stare as they almost lay

On top of each other as they flew
So close to ground in front and blew
My mind as I watched them all aghast
And wondered if they'd finish last

Or I would, as I came upon my drive
And once I turned into it - they dived
One more time, inches before my boots
Making me realize their message would

Cause me to pause in what I was doing
For they threw me so, I was losing
My cap, and step, and hold on leash
As I almost fell over the dog, seized

By some kind of panic which surprised
For I'd never seen this in all my life
And then they soared up and into trees
As I looked on, stunned, but kinda pleased

For something else pure and so limited
Had made me wonder at nature so pivoted
I was ... in all of my - mundane matters
And here, something wonderful had happened

Which made me realize there was higher
Things in life - than those two fliers
And yet for that very moment I was hushed
For all there was - was a pair of thrushes ...
