All Roads Lead Somewhere Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s58.erols.com Tues, May 13, 1997 at 10:5PM |
Travel is something we all think about at this time of year
For we all want to go somewhere else to get into higher gear
But sometimes we must ask ourselves whether what we do fear
Is ourselves so much we feel we must run away and in tears
For we have been hurt, and thus we feel we need some space
Which we must use to distance ourselves with so much grace
From those we care for, for they've taken us for granted
And so we know we must get away from them and thus parted
We sense they will appreciate us all the more when we return
After we've been away touring & pretended we'd money to burn
For we felt we well-deserved that very much needed vacation
At the end of which, we give ourselves over to a new station
And begin anew the day-to-day tasks which'd become so mundane
Which we'd done with such lack of vigor - we had become lame
And now we address those old, haggard and worn-out situations
Knowing all too well they were the same roads we travelled -
throughout the nation.
