When all the pieces start to fall apart

And you deal with them as you begin to smart
You know there are some other ways to play
There are pictures which show where they stay

But you know when you set those sections
Some of them are complete works of fiction
Pieces of the puzzle which you conjured up
For you'd grand visions since you were a pup

And you knew from then puzzles were infuriating
For pieces which didn't fit - you wound up grating
Together in fits of anger and complete frustration
Pushing them together so with force you made them

Fit into some kind of mixed-up distorted picture
But, to you - back then - it allowed you posture
Which you then used, and walked around with pride
For you had beaten the system, and made them jive

But now as you look and gaze upon the current mess
You see pictures falling off the pieces and so less
Is the overall view, and does not compare with the box
And then you start to sob, for before - you did not toss

Pieces around when they did not quite fit together
For even though they didn't fit right, they did ever
All come from the same large quite gayly-colored box
And so you knew you could return them there, in tucks

You made here and there, as you dismantled the picture
And put it away for another time, when you'd like mission
But would be clearer about exactly what it is you wanted
Instead of being in a constant vain search as you haunted

Amongst toy shops and cupboards and along busy pathways
As you did push & pull things this way & that over days
When you played so hard with all of those large pieces
And tried to put together pictures which had no leases

And so now you finally do toss pieces back there
For if you play with them any longer - you'll stare
So hard at the mess which you have over time created
And you just want to put them out of sight and mated

With their partners which you know all came at once
In the same pretty box, which is now squashed in tons
Of other similar packages which contain other toys
Which you will also leave there - for the other boys.
