Everybody mothers someone or something

It is in our nature to be protective
For we all have cares and thus do ring
Circles around these things as we give

Tender loving care to whatever it is
For we have forces we emit from within
As we go on about our day to day biz
Protecting those elements we've faith in

For some - it takes a while to thus realize
There is a lot of good out there to prize
Whether it's a person, animal or some other
We often show we care by giving once-overs

And in turn this object of our tall pride
Does in some way return the attention aside
Whether by shining its luster or gleaming
Which in turn makes us so warm and beaming

We need this day to assess all we do have
For without this day ... we would not pave
Our roads with the tar which it needs to mend
For when we do this - things have time to bend

And thus do mould and suit us better in time
For we have done things which allow us to climb
Up a few rungs on a very steep and tall ladder
Which rises to the stars & makes us feel gladder.
