Words About Meanness Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s20.erols.com Mon, April 28, 1997 at 11:52AM |
Why are we - who are all members of this human race
So quick to jump on one who has fallen from grace?
Why do we attack someone who seems to be on a trip
Instead of supporting them at shoulders and hip?
If someone is in the process of falling down
We seem to chose to congregate and move around
And antagonize them further so they are bound
Instead of padding their fall right to the ground
Everyone of us has something good in us to share
It's just a matter of getting to know as they bare
Their souls and divest themselves of all underneath
Their shells, which they use to protect their sheath
In which they slide in and out their tools of craft
Which some of us have plentiful, as we're not daft
All it takes is time to see what makes them glow
And as we ride on that passage we do come to know
And so we choose (or we should) to give them a start
So they can blossom and as they do - they will impart
Whatever it is they have which makes them tick inside
And then, as we, patiently, give them a chance to ride
We will start to know the goodness which we can utilize
To empower ourselves to be on better terms as we prize
Our own place in the world - of which we are great part
No matter how mean others get to us - we do have heart
And all we need do ... to resolve the pain we do feel
Is focus on others who show only goodness which seals
Our own realization there is much wonder around us
Which has seldom been tapped, even tho it's trussed
Up in concise packages which wear ribbons and masks
For we are always trying to hide from questions asked
Instead of being open and explaining just who we are
For we're afraid doing so, will make us become tarred
Perhaps so - if you really truly have something to hide
Then - if you do - then you need to find another ride
But, if you don't ... then nobody at all can get to you
For everyone has a right to BE ... no matter how blue.
