On Shills and Shells Christopher W. Thomas (tristram@erols.com) dnb-as1s55.erols.com Wed, April 23, 1997 at 9:35AM |
Travels we make around the Net
Can bring us to some good bets
But we can also stumble upon
Things which might make us long
For the clean and upright sight
Of good quality themes which might
Provide us with some inspiration
And pump our minds with elation
Some of these ... do indeed exist
But we must look under that & this
And as we seek those really good spots
We come across things which do not
Some of these ... are empty shells
Which remind us, as they don't tell
Anything which really captivates
And so then we slide - on a skate
Into another door which beckons
And as we pass thru, we reckon
There must be something inside
Which is better than the hide
And seek game, we saw being played
As many personnas went thru dazed
And then we come upon one who thrills
For their name reminds us they will
Be fun to talk with, and thus enjoin
In lively banter, so we can coin
Phrases of fun, dry wit and innuendo
And start feeling tickles which send to
Our minds - thoughts of lively fancy
As we play along with games so antsy
But even so - we do name things dear
Which were already broached, so no fear
And then, later - things came to light
Which made us realize, it was not bright
For these shills ... did involve us in
A false sense of security, and chagrin
Now comes across our internal trust
For we have been burned, and so must
Abstain from involvement, not join in
Matters which will lead to purloining.
