As we walk along the pathway of life
There are times when we forget strife
As we look down to the ground to see
Sometimes, good fortune, which can be
Gloves, hats, scarves, even a shoe
Lie around, waiting for us to move
Them into more appropriate places
Trash cans, or - if we can find laces
Perhaps it would make sense to recycle
These things which may have might yet
For anything which is still in one piece
Can be used again if we value the lease
So do consider carefully before next discard
Whether it will wind up in somebody's yard
And if you suspect there is some use left
Then keep it yourself, for you have it there.
