Last week came in the mail quite a pleasant surprise

... A "Publisher's Proof" in an envelope undisguised

Urging me to fill it out and thence to send it back ...

So to get one of my poems published and on track



Well, that'd still leave some twelve hundred plus in a state

Without that very same honor, sitting on a big, empty plate

And if I did this ... I'd still have to buy the book it'd be in ...

It seems - to get published ... you never CAN really win ...
