The Queen be a lady in every sense of the word

She's attractive and gracious and only is heard
- From, when something wonderful or horrible's
- Happened, like a fire in Windsor Castle's shell

It began high up on the library floor with flame
No doubt by a careless smoker who's to blame
Messing with cleaning fluids whilst with fag lit
I'm surprised they're even allowed to in the Brit

Royal home second only to Buckingham Palace
The place where Lady Di lived before being Alice
You know - the woman who doesn't live here anymore
Ain't that the truth? - and we all now know that score

Then we heard from her occasionally during that time
But very seldom did it have anything to do with Di's climb
To the very utmost top of Society's Royal Social Elite
For Lady Di - this was an extremely well-achieved feat

And then to have it all squashed in just a short dash
Because she'd not learned tolerance, couldn't match
The Queen's ability to accept and overlook some things
Which Prince Philip brought to the fore yesterday with sting

On the occasion of the Royal Couple's fiftieth wedding anniversary
A fantastic accomplishment for any couple who've made it to this day
As all couples who've shared half-a-century together well knows
But all the moreso for the Queen Bee who's had to go through so

Much more than any monarch should need to in one long life
For this butterfly has had it all dumped on her - so much strife
Dealing with broken marriages of sister, daughter, two sons
She just had to keep hers together to show it could be done

I am so proud of the Queen - she's got it all wrapped up tight
A splendid woman who's had to grin and bear it all these nights
And days, over the past 50 years ... so much has happened to her
Bombings at hotels where she was staying, could've been interred

Close friends like Lord Mountbatten blown to pieces in a boat
She just gritted her teeth and went on - never once did she gloat
I'm so glad she had a ceremony yesterday to celebrate her fifty
I wish I could be so dignified and proud - to me, it's just so nifty
