Over the past few days - a curious phenomena has befallen

The moon seems to have toppled, bending its edges all in
There's dents all along the circumference in the lower region
As though some foreign objects have attacked it without reason

At least - it seems that way to this so very careful observer
And so I remark on it here to tickle the mind, not to close it
Perhaps, it is possible some meteorites have hit our friend
Which has provided us with so much romance, without end

For the moon has become a symbol of our love-passions
Stirring us to woo - and to write songs and poems of fashion
And now it has become distorted and bent out of shape ...
Perhaps, thru something we've done - not quite so great ...

If this be so, and now we must suffer the consequences
Is it permanent, or can we somehow make our amends?
I sure hope so - for the moon needs to be a full circle ...
For when it is - then the romance in our hearts is perfect!

- Tristram
