A big black mongrel with a bushy tail
Stands atop a driveway by a high rail
Surveying his territory, guarding his lot
Walking so proudly, watching his spot
No invaders are near, they wouldn't dare
For this dog protects - covering well his lair
He's a guard, who's paid with bones and scraps
It's all he needs to keep looking after all of that ...
