When you're tender in your ways

People walk all over you, and say
Nasty things about you, without cause
And against this - there should be laws

But there are none - every man can do
Whatever he wishes, and - can you sue?
Only if you can track that person down
(That's pretty difficult - they get around!)

When you're tender in your own way ...
Some folks like you, but others stay -
Well apart from you, thinking you're weird ...
And behind your back - you see not the sneers

But it all happens because they don't take time to know
YOU - for who YOU are, and not words from other shows
When that happens, then folks will like you well enough
For you know deep down under - you're not at all tough!

- Tristram
