"The calm before the storm" is what this should be called
But too many cliches in the past have already been pulled
So latching onto another title which has quite the same effect
Is a choice made today - as one doesn't know what to expect
The announcement of a hurricane heading north the other day
Brought with it some thunder and lightning later ... as if to say
"This is what you can expect from Bonnie later on in the week
Just thought we'd give you a taste of it - just a slight sneak peek"
And today - there's just no sign of a hurricane at all in the air
There's a certain stillness which gives a lie to the coming scare
When it hits, there will be raging winds, and plenty of noise
And wires will break in two, and cause havoc with all our toys
Radios will go on the blink, and television transmissions, too
Telephones will go out, as winds break cables, and we stew
Lights will flicker on and off, leaving some totally in the dark
And computers will be useless, unless fueled by battery spark
