We all make choices

From everyday voices
To do things to lose ...
In order to stay in tune

For winning can become a hook
Causing us to lay down our books
And then this works against our soul
For we lose the edge to attain goals

Which, those who need to strive, have
For we're always struggling - just a tad
And this keeps us just a little bit behind
But, doing it this way, we never get blind

Whereas, those who win, lose that sense
The care and devotion no longer blends
For they have tuned out those other needs
And their hearts only pretend to bleed ....
