Kitchen tap kept falling off ...

Making folks laugh and scoff
So yesterday I decided to fix
But only caused a new trick

After gently tapping down tap valve
Suddenly had a problem and a half
For a geyser erupted, shooting water
All over the kitchen (a huge rupture)

Hurriedly attempted to turn off the supply
But tap wouldn't budge, don't know why
Rushed outside and climbed down into pit
But taps down there would have none of it

Finally figured out another had been spliced
Without telling me ... that wasn't very nice ...
Quickly shut it down and rushed back inside
To deal with what turned out to be a huge tide

What a mess I was faced with clearing up ...
But did it with levity as all towels were stuffed
Into the washing machine, completely sopping
Only to find them unwashable after the mopping

You see ... one needs water to wash things
And I'd turned it off to end the geyser thing
So here was I with soaking wet towels and floor
And no water to clean with ... who'd want more?
