The Nanny Goat



Ever wondered where the Nanny Goat got its name?

If you did - keep wondering, for here, there's no gain

The "book" only indicates it comes from the name Anne

As if that explains it ... (of course, some are named Dan)



And others go by the name of "Boy" or "Girl" or "Kid"

Some have unusual names they use to slide and skid

But goats - on the whole - don't think much about names

They're just too busy munching grass and other grain



And then there are some "Goats" who have very little else to do

So they laze about in shady corners as they have nothing to lose

Since these have no real names - they can do whatever they please

But most of the time ... they're just sitting, scratching their fleas
