We've just begun a Sunday like any other

Except this one begins a week uncovered
Marking another year on the larger slate
(A celebratory day's within week's dates)

A day (whence come) - to treat oneself well
For there's nobody around with whom to jell
But that's okay, for all one needs is some hugs
And those you can easily get - from the old dog
