In 1789, approximately 500 years after inception

A mob of Frenchmen stormed it, finding deception
For it contained only seven prisoners, not at all full
Most of the others had been guillotined, during lulls

That day has now gone down in history as the start
Of the French Revolution, but it was really only part
Nevertheless, the day is now celebrated every year
This year - even moreso, as The World Cup's here

Having beaten Brazil - for many years the best team
In the world of soccer, when Pele was Brazil's beam
Now, today - the French have dual reasons to celebrate
For they've won The Cup, and Bastille Day's their mate!
