Flash and Crash
Down in the park
Suddenly ... dark
Thunder cracked
Lightning snapped
Clambered back into car
Dog scared, didn't go far
Rushed home just in time
To see lightning at its prime
Lit up house with bolt
Then things did revolt
Rear amp hummed loud
Burnt inside - shot now
Completely fried
I almost died ...
From the shock
Then took stock
Computer jumbled
I felt so humbled
Drive went to pieces
Serial ports useless
Had to swap board
And - oh., My Lord
What a conniption!
Got so much friction
Some RAM parity errors
(Storms are such terrors)
Had them all apart ...
Matching chips to start
Now have found four
Mismatched sizes more
But all same parity deal ...
Making forty-eight meg real
Livable - for the slower board
A 586 (short on a few straws)
Of course, it's missing those external cache chips
But at one hundred twenty megahertz - a hit
Also there's one expansion slot short
(Will have to forego tape drive bought)
And not all devices seem to be plug and play
But that's alright, because it sure saved the day ...
