With door and windows open to cool the house

Scents waft on in, and so many of them arouse

... Feelings of attachment to the world at large

Something lacking when all's shut up so hard



Also, there are noises now heard all around

So many active parts of life provide sound

Tiles being replaced on a neighbor's roof

Cars passing, leaving rubber from grooves



Birds and squirrels rustling by in front of door

So many different sounds, and so many more

... To hear, with music off, and all this openness

Reminding me of just how much we're blessed
