So much happens to us as we go into situations and out

Some of this leaves permanent scars upon our snouts
We feel intensely, and because of this, we give our all
And then - when we are maligned, we feel like a fool

I don't know if we ever recover our dignity by opening up
But, sometimes - it pays to put things out there - then cuts
Will not fester and cause further problems down the road
Which often happens - if we have not seen, then showed

We have no aces up our sleeves to use to perform magic
For the tricks are only in our minds, and this is quite tacit
When we play games with the past and others' feelings
Can thus be affected severely, and they're sent reeling

So it's best to be as open and as honest as possible
For when you are - there is no way you can be pulled
So live your life this way and then you will start to see
Improvements in how you relate to the world, and be

Genuine in your intent and you will reap the benefit
For honest feelings can be so much more complete
Than pretensions - which mask the very inside shell
Which is always there ... and as we know it so well

Some semblance of it will always rise to the top
And when it does - you'd better be ready to stop
The domino effect your disguise tried to mask
Because you weren't really hiding - so now ask

Yourself some very important questions - do it now
Deal with your feelings - and then you can allow
Emotions which are at cross-purposes within ...
To be mixed, stirred, shaken, and then thinned

By pouring them out through a very fine strainer
Which we all have within us - makes us plainer
And when you look at the puree you have made
You will wonder why you waited so long ...
and of exactly what you were afraid ....
