The Midway's come to town, quite surreptitiously erected
And it's time for all the family to go - it's expected ...
Just like in days past, when Dad and Mum took us there
All of those many times - just so we could enjoy the fair
And seeing the ferris wheel and caterpillar and carousel
Warms my heart, and reminds me of all those stories I've yet to tell
So many delightful experiences shared in all those times past
When the Midway came to town, and all of the family had such a blast
Riding on all those different fun things, trying them out
And we laughed at it all so much, we began to spout ...
Because the Midway had come to town, and so we stayed
All us kids, and adults too ... hearing the music played
It was such fun to do, as one big family, all together, at once
And none of us felt alone at all, for then, we did those things on the run
Making up our minds to do it spontaneously, always, when down
For no matter what else had gone on, the Midway had come to town
