Coming up the hill, saw quite a vision

Neighbor trimming a tree with incision
Holding above his head a twenty foot pole
With a saw blade on the end - its cutting role

Wanted to say something about ingenuity
But all that would come out of my mouth at all free
Was - "That's a handy gadget!" with a smile
To which he replied with grin at his trial

"It gets the job done!" - and went back to heavy task
Cutting away branches far above drive in yard ...
Why they were such a bother which needed any attention
Is a mystery to me, but I'm sure there's good intention

But it reminds me now, my own branches need pruning
Some are so low, they scratch top of car as I'm moving
So, I'll get the old shears out and then have a go at it soon
Making my own drive a little bit more habitable, this noon

- Tristram
