A lovely little walkway up to neighbor's front door

Is now a mess of broken concrete, a path no more
The entire stretch has been broken up with a pick
Concrete slabs left there upon which others can trip

- If they should choose to use the walkway even tho
It is now just pieces of what it was - a messy show
I guess it wasn't needed, and just encouraged visitors more
Along with a neat "Welcome" flag hung from above the door

Used no more, replaced with some other designs
Swapped out periodically, to match with the times
One green one hung out to mark St. Patrick's Day
Another regular Old Glory there on Memorial Day

Some others have been used at times since move-in
Including the flag of the Scandinavian country Finland
A multitude of others have also seen the light of day
But not many have been there long (always short stays)

And now we shall see just how long broken path's there
Looking for all the world as though nobody really cares
If it was up to me, I would remove the offensive slabs
Carting them off somewhere, out of sight of the crabs
