A friend's farewell has instilled a song in

My heart, even though there's no longing
Quite yet, for she has only just left me to be
Alone with my thoughts, and so very free

But, with the knowledge I am now so all alone
For the next ten days, just me and dog in home
And no contact whatsoever will be undertaken
Because she's gone away, leaving me forsaken

With a longing sensed to be, but not quite yet felt
As heart-strings vibrate, and body yearns to melt
Cuddled up in her limbs, sensing her sweetness
Tasting her charms, amidst all of the bleakness
