Eyes so sad, yet full of love

Jumping around, yet so tough
Chew-bone is the way to prove
A ten-year-old dog still can move

But it's a way to tell the food stinks
Sniffed it, walked away, nary a blink
She proves she loves still with the tail
And by nuzzling up to leg, never stale

But, food, bought fresh, just days ago
Is already history, for no eating now
Just the tossing around of chew-bone
To remind me I'm not really alone ...

And must feed my animal good stuff
Or she will never quite eat enough
And yet, there is no way to prove
Ahead of time - what's no good ...
