Calliphoras are a type of large fly

Metallic-blue bodies which shine
With movements in air so abrupt
To catch one at all is quite tough

For they're so very quick and sharp
One has to be faster when they park
Which they eventually do when tired
Then one has time needed for expire

To grab them from on top or behind
With large wad of tissue while blind
And then to quickly flush them away
Before they've nested in order to stay

The season for them is now upon us
For Spring's finally here without fuss
And now we must prepare for barrage
Of many other insects - some quite large

Like spiders which crawl from crevices
And centipedes crawling over terraces
Along with mosquitoes, gnats, beetles
All of which bother almost all people

It would be so wonderful if we indeed could
Be rid of all these pests forever, and should
But no matter how many of them we squash
There'll always be more to follow, and toss
