A Menagerie of Sound

Humming in the air this morning
A rich blanket of sounds calling
The chirping of a few sparrows
In the middle of it, quite narrow

Infused by louder caw of crows
Who really do quite overshadow
Along with deeper hoot of owls
Who're out to show the crows how

Taking over the entire sound screen
With their deeper, richer way of being
And these are offset by coos of doves
Unseen, but heard quite high above ...

Along with a woodpecker's tapping
Whose tireless incessant snapping
Filters through all of the other sounds
Causing thanks to the Lord I'm around

To hear them all at once and so fine
So grateful am I to have this time ...
For blessings truly are bestowed
Amidst all of the gratitude owed ....
