So many pulls from all around us
Folks presuming to live without fuss
But so much of it all comes with fees
Having to be payed in order to please
And as much as we say we live totally free
The fact is - we can never at all really be
For everyone around us tugs at our minds
Living in a world which to them is unkind
Keeping your head high when all around
Are playing their tunes of a different sound
Sometimes plays havoc on inner recesses
Cavities not always filled with beauty blessed
And so the vision we've created for ourselves
Has cracks in the outer covering - delicate shells
From which occasionally oozes precious liquid
For as much as we feel we're above, we're timid
For lives lived without cares and responsibility
Don't really exist - for freedom isn't that free ...
Seeing that takes time, maturity and patience
And mind-awakening, before it totally blends
