Boulder Dam

There it was right in the middle of the road
A sight to make eyes sore - a heavy load ...
A small boulder which'd fallen down hill
Waiting to cause a nasty accident still ...

Drove merrily on past the rock with others
Then had second thoughts, feeling bothered
So turned around in an adjacent driveway
And went on back to that part of highway

Then pulled over opposite the mammoth piece
And walked across to the mound and heaved
It up and well across to other side of the road
The one which went downhill to other homes

Made sure it sat on the flat well away from edge
Then marched back over to car perched on ledge
Checked back along highway at all of the traffic
Because it was rush hour and things were hectic

Slid back in behind the wheel with peace in mind
Backed out carefully for car was essentially blind
Gradually drove on home peaceful and contented
Filled with the knowledge an accident was prevented
