Seeing all of those birds all lined up

Counting them one by one in your cup
Getting ready to cross those bridges way ahead
When all you really need do is get out the lead

Deciding ahead of time what goes where
Choosing paths without even giving stare
Exchanges of the mind alone are so bare
When all that matters - if you really do care

Is to come face-to-face with the soul and heart
Who's lit a fire under you, providing a new start
For this person deserves more than just a nod
They deserve to be on the same ground you plod

But this will never happen if you score the wood
Upon the bridge you've not yet crossed nor would
For your journey is all a long trip only in your mind
You will never get to - as long as you remain blind
