When you care so very much for another soul

You cry at the drop of a hat when they call
For feelings they stir up in you are rekindled
Then you wonder why it is you feel swindled

Their proclamations of so much innocence
Catch you off guard, and then you sense
All the interpretations you made are false
And yet, the facts you had in hand and pulse

Are there - for you do remember them well
When you were told, you did not feel swell
But swept them under rug and bottled it up
Until the day came when stirrings got on top

Then the bottle opens and out pours the tears
And the liquid oozes out between your fears
As then the effervescence you showed others
Gets lost in the stream of pain, so uncovered
